I believe there is a positive in every negative. For me, the negative is cancer, but I have experienced a lot of positives.
My doctor and his entire staff of nurses – they genuinely care about their patients, and I, for one, truly appreciate that.
The nursing staff at the Infusion Center – angels, pure angels, their care and compassion go above and beyond their responsibility.
My Relay For Life family – it makes my heart smile to be with these survivors and supporters with such a PASSION for supporting cancer patients, celebrating survivors, and reaching for a cure for all cancers.
How about you – what’s positive in your life?
I have stage 4 uterine cancer. Over the past three and a half year I have had several surgeries and lots of radiation. Right now, I am in chemo treatments. The positives for me have been the people coming out of the woodwork that I did not know cared so much about me, and the incredible health care team I have who are both professional and very kind and encouraging.
Right now I have a large mass in my lung that is a met of endometrial cancer. One rib is destroyed and the pain from that was what got me into the office and started this new round of treatment.
I try to exercise at least a little every day whether I feel like it or not. Chemo fatigue is the biggest drawback.
My doctor is giving me a break in my treatment schedule to allow a long planned two week trip to France in May. I am really excited about that. My son is getting married in June, another thing to look forward to. Even with cancer, life does go on and it’s wonderful to be here to share it!
Thanks for sharing this with us, Melinda – hope you get through this round of chemo okay and have a wonderful trip in May. France! That should be incredible! And the wedding after – best wishes to you — and your son and future daughter-in-law, too!
